So I’m basically organizing my thoughts around the scripture, 1 Peter 5:7, which says, "casting all your cares on Him for He cares for you."
May I ask you a question, and not for the purpose of being nosey but rather so that we can establish some sort of relativity? Have you ever been so burdened with choices, trials, emotions, etc. that you just felt stuck? I'm talking about feelings of despair so intense that you couldn't mentally or physical move? Yep I know what that's like. If you'd allow me to be honest, truth is that I've felt so attacked that in that moment I would've rather have died, and no I don't mean suicide.
Okay so let's get into it…
The Bible tells us to cast our cares on Him for He CARES for you!
Casting is not a toss up, it's a purposeful throw. When you cast something you've thought it through, and you know the end desire. It's not an action that is left to "chance" or "maybe" it's specific and purposeful… Hold onto that.
Care means a suffering of the mind and in the Greek is the word merimna, which means things that divide the mind…
God, through the Apostle Peter, tells us to throw onto Him, in a purposeful manner, anything that is causing division in our minds. Why? Because HE CARES! He actually is concerned and wants to help us get to the resolution! GOOD NEWS is you don't have to struggle alone or even at all.
The verse before it says that we are to "humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God…" the result of humbling ourselves under God's hand is that He will exalt us in due time… Casting your cares is the perfect example of humility, because at the moment you decide to throw on God you admit your need for a savior as well as your inability to carry the things on your on. Your human strength has limits and will become weak, the great part though is in that moment, God's strength is made perfect! Why is that? Why does my weakness allow God's strength to become perfect? Glad you asked… At that moment His divine ability is no longer contaminated by the frailty of human effort. You're not strong enough to carry it and that's why it's weighing on you so heavy!
God is God for a reason so LET HIM BE GOD! I once heard one of my mentors, Pastor Todd L. Kitchen say, something to the effect that "...the easiest thing for anyone to do is be themselves…" It's easy for God to be God, He's most qualified and has done it for a looooonnnnngggggg time!
Have you ever been let down by people when they told you, "if you need anything let me know", or "call me anytime"? Ever needed someone and those that you reached out to were unavailable? Well the Bible tells us that we can cast our cares ALL BECAUSE of the care that God has for us!
I'll end with several verses from the hymn "God Will Take Care of You"…
Be not dismayed whate’er betide, God will take care of you!
Beneath His wings of love abide,
God will take care of you!
God will take care of you,
Through every day o’er all the way; He will take care of you; God will take care of you!
Through days of toil when heart doth fail, God will take care of you!
When dangers fierce your path assail, God will take care of you!
All you may need He will provide, God will take care of you! Trust Him, and you will be satisfied, God will take care of you!
Lonely and sad, from friends apart, God will take care of you! He will give peace to your aching heart, God will take care of you!
No matter what may be the test, God will take care of you! Lean, weary one, upon His breast, God will take care of you!
